Artist and Musician Cooperative

Make My Day Hawaii’s Artist/Musician Cooperative is rapidly forming with over 125 volunteer professionals in the arts and music enlisted to fill the integral roles of community mentors. Beginning January 2010, the Cooperative will host weekly mentor classes and a monthly showcase of talents in Ocean View, on the Big Island of Hawaii. The development of this program is in response to many requests to expand our mentor program. Each week an artist/musician from the Cooperative will lead a mentor program with each program running one to three weeks with a completed project as the goal. A cooperative monthly showcase will highlight our mentor/apprentice talent during an evening of art and music, to raise awareness in the community and provide culture and entertainment in our rural community. Our programs focus on promoting healthy lifestyle choices and recycling practices by instilling drug, alcohol, and tobacco free messages in every program, providing nutritional and motivational speakers during our healthy snack time, and encouraging using materials that would otherwise go to the landfill.
Programs will include, but are not limited to:

  • Fashion Design
  • Hula
  • Guitar
  • Ukelele
  • Singing
  • Culinary Arts
  • Motivating Public Speaking
  • Professional Business Etiquette and Technique
  • Painting
  • Sculpture

  • Acting

With a home facility for Make My Day Hawaii’s operations as our goal in 2011, currently, in 2009, Make My Day Hawaii’s team of dedicated volunteers are working hard to raise funds to make the program expansion happen and secure a site for our home base in Ocean View, on the Big Island of Hawaii.
